Auto Train: bring your car to Florida

The Auto Train runs non-stop for passengers between Lorton, Virginia (about 30 minutes south of Washington, DC) and Sanford, Florida (about 30 minutes north of Orlando). Your car, SUV or motorcycle rides in an enclosed carrier on the same train, so you skip roughly 850 miles of I-95 and arrive with your own vehicle.

  • DepartsDaily, about 4 p.m. from both ends
  • ArrivesAbout 9 a.m. the next morning
  • Vehicle check-inUsually closes around 3 p.m.
  • RoomsCoach seats, Roomettes, Bedrooms, family & accessible rooms

Sleeper space and vehicle spots sell out first, especially from October to January heading south and from March to May heading north. Fares rise as the train fills, so booking early usually saves money. We'll help you choose between a Roomette, a Bedroom with its own washroom, or coach, and add the right vehicle type.
